The Entourage Effect: Weekly Cannaissuer Recommendations

Pig n’ Weed Blanket

Relish in National Hot Dog Day

While you might think that a hot dog is an unassuming food item, we beg to differ. How you choose to eat your hot dog says a lot about you. Some people might be mortified if you lather up your dog with ketchup, and others will have a similar reaction to mustard. And please, we beg of you, do not get us started on those who eat their dogs with a fork.

Do you know what else garners that same reaction? Cannabis. With so many consumption options, cannabis consumers have their tried and true preferable consumption method. Seeing the similarity between hot dogs and cannabis, we thought of our three favorite hot dog and cannabis pairings that will blow your mind.

Chicago Dog: it's an all-beef frankfurter on a poppy seed bun topped with yellow mustard, chopped white onions, bright green sweet pickle relish, a dill pickle spear, tomato slices, or wedges, pickled sport peppers, and a pinch of celery salt.

Best Enjoyed With: WYLD's Lemon CBD Sparkling Water (25mg). It's light, bright, and fresh, with subdued fruits against the mustard and onions.

Chili Cheese Dog: A dog topped with chili and melted cheese. The addition of chili on a dog means you're going to need something that can hang with the savory flavors.

Best Enjoyed With: Tangerine Fruit Chews 10 Pack (50mg THC). After a big filling meal like a chili cheese dog, you're going to need the energy to get off the couch, which you'll find in Tangerine chews!

Memphis Dog: Another regional favorite, Memphis Dogs are bacon-wrapped hot dogs are covered with BBQ sauce, cheese and then sprinkled with chopped green onions.

Best Enjoyed With: Elysium Field's Granddaddy Purple x Dozi [.5g.]  Granddaddy Purple x Dozi enhances appetite and gets you ready for a delicious meal, which you'll need for a big meal like a Memphis dog!

Wiener Winks (aka Pigs in a Weed Blanket)

We told you this was the wurst week ever! In honor of National Hot Dog day, we found Pigs in a Weed blanket on Cannabis Wiki.

   18 mini hot dogs
   2 cups flour
   ¾ cup buttermilk
   1/3 cup grated cheddar cheese
   4 tablespoons cannabutter
   1 tablespoon sugar
   2 teaspoons baking powder
   ½ teaspoon salt
   ½ teaspoon baking soda

Get Making

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  2. Grease a large baking sheet with cooking spray and then add the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt to a large mixing bowl.
  3. Grease a large baking sheet with cooking spray and then add the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt to a large mixing bowl.
  4. Use a sifter to gently combine all of the dry ingredients, and then cut the cannabutter into small cubes before adding it to the bowl.
  5. It’s going to take a little bit of elbow work, but eventually, the mixture will reach an even crumbly texture, and this is when you’ll need to add the cheese to the mix.
  6. Use a spoon to mix in the cheese until it is evenly distributed throughout the mixture, and then make a small well in the middle of the dough.
  7. Pour the buttermilk into the well and then give it a good mix, and once it’s stirred well, let it sit for approximately 3 minutes.
  8. Use a bit of flour to generously sprinkle the top exposed portion of the dough, and then a clean countertop so that you can flip the dough out onto a floured surface.
  9. Once the ball of dough hits the counter, flour the newly exposed side to prevent it from sticking to you or your tools as you work, and then use your hands to press the dough into a rectangle that measures approximately 15x7 inches.
  10. Once you have a good rectangle with straight edges, it’s time to pull out your pizza cutter, so that you can cut it into thirds horizontally to create giant triangles.
  11. The next slices will be vertical, to cut each triangle into half, and once you’re finished, you should have 9 small rectangles that can be cut once more on an angle to double the count.
  12. Lightly flour the triangles so that they don’t stick together as you work, then gently pull them apart one by one until they’ve all been separated.
  13. Get out your mini hot dogs and start rolling by placing each one horizontally and level with the widest flat bottom of each crust, then carefully roll it, correcting the angle so that by the time you’re done, the sharp triangle point is perfectly resting in the center.
  14. Once they are all rolled up, they can be spaced out on a cookie sheet, but take care not to place them too close to each other, or they could end up stuck once they’re cook, as they expand.
  15. Bake the pigs in a blanket for 13 minutes, or until they are golden brown on the outside.

The Entourage Effect

We’ve got the products that are exciting to the people who know cannabis best! We asked our recently married Marketing Manager, Emily, what products she couldn’t get enough of and here’s what she had to say:

Elysium Fields Grease Monkey pre-roll: Going 0 to 100 in terms of social activities is a recipe for one heck of a cold. And post-wedding, I have the whole cold enchilada: congestion, cough, head pressure, and more. Elysium Fields Grease Monkey pre-roll has helped my cold symptoms so much!

54 Green Acres Hindu Kush: And because I haven't been feeling great, I have been drinking a lot of tea to soothe my throat. I love using 54 Green Acres Hindu Kush honey because it helps the taste and gives me just enough to take the edge off and keep me relaxed.

Tropical Fruit Chew 10 Pack (50mg THC):  We aren't going on our honeymoon for a few more months. So, for the time being, I am going on a tropical vacation in my mind! Plus, it helps me catch up on those missed zzz's I didn't get while planning my wedding!
