How can we continue to channel that child-like wonder? Well for starters, cannabis helps! In this weekly issue you'll find go-to product recommendations as well as articles to help you exercise your imagination; we've even included a drink recipe here (Imagination Punch)! LET'S GET CREATIVE!

8 TYPES OF IMAGINATION

What do all creative writers have in common? Imagination. The ability to create new people from scratch, place them into new scenarios and tell stories. If you cannot imagine, you cannot write. It is the most essential and vital thing for one to understand about your process.

Today, we understand there are eight different types of imagination the more you can appreciate your thought process and the more efficiently you can work.

  1. Effective imagination: enables us to manufacture existing ideas together from existing information.

  2. Intellectual or constructive imagination: is when you're capable of working from an existing plan or a particular idea and is guided towards a distinct purpose.

  3. Imaginative fantasy: This is when you can produce innovative ideas from scratch and be guided or unguided.

  4. Empathy: a capability that human beings have to mentally detach from ourselves and experience what another person is experiencing from their perspective.

  5. Strategic imagination: This is essentially concerned with 'what could be…'. It's the ability to spot opportunities and visualize what might happen if you were to take them.

  6. Emotional imagination: This is a slightly trickier one to describe. It's concerned with manifesting emotional dispositions and extending them into scenarios.

  7. Dreams: These are an unconscious form of imagination that we do when we're asleep.

  8. Memory Reconstruction: When we retrieve memories of people, objects, and events, we use our imagination to regenerate the images.

THE CUP OF COFFEE YOUR IMAGINATION NEEDS

WAYS TO BOOST YOUR IMAGINATION SO YOU CAN BE THE MOST CREATIVE YOU POSSIBLE

Imagination is a tool that often needs a cup of coffee. What we mean is, sometimes your creativity needs a jolt of caffeine or spark to get going and keep going. The brain doesn't just produce imaginative content on its own. It requires a little help, a little caffeine. Here are five ways to stimulate your imagination during your typical daily routine.

  1. Meditate: meditating for 15 to 20 minutes when you wake up allows you to clear your mind. If you've ever seen those LeBron James "Calm" commercials, you know that meditation calms the brain and eliminates the noise that often pollutes our heads. Meditating is perfect for the imagination because the imaginations arch-nemesis is overthinking!

  2. Commute: alright, we're talking in the future here. When you're communicating, use it to your advance; if you're using public transportation, doodle and let your imagination run wild. Doodling can reduce stress and significantly stimulate your brain's problem-solving center while simultaneously prompting creative thoughts if you drive to work and try to take different routes on the way to work. Changes of scenery can help kickstart your imaginative side.

  3. Read: Our elementary school teachers weren't trying to trick us into doing something more educational, it turns out. Reading does incredible things for our imagination. Reading fiction is like a CrossFit workout for the brain and creativity. It forces us to picture everything on the page rather than dictate to you on a screen.

  4. Exercise: A stimulating body is a stimulated mind. Working up a sweat will help reduce stress and stimulate your brain, which will allow your imagination to free flow.

  5. Weed: Cannabis and creative expression is something widely discussed. So much so, it has even been the topic of many academic researchers. Research indicates that creativity is connected with the brain's frontal lobe and that cannabis consumption enhances cerebral blood flow (CBF) to this area, making it more active. 5 REASONS IMAGINATION IS IMPORTANT

PERHAPS YOU WORK IN A JOB THAT DOESN’T REQUIRE MUCH IMAGINATION AND THEREFORE, DON’T THINK IMPROVING AND WORKING ON YOUR IMAGINATION IS IMPORTANT. HERE ARE FIVE REASONS WHY YOUR IMAGINATION IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.

  1. Imagination fuels passion: In a world full of responsibility and practicality, dreaming allows us to feel passion. In times where we've replaced passion with survival and commitment, imagination allows us to feel something other than the necessary.

  2. Imagination and thoughts from our future: Thoughts do become things. If our imaginative muscle is the thing that makes that possible. If we only stay engrossed with our current reality, we will only create the same problems, challenges, and experiences time and time again. In our imagination, we can set our energy into focus, and change can occur.

  3. Imagination stimulates innovation: The simple act of imagining something more significant and more beautiful has created some of the most prominent and innovative creations. Scientists and creative artists alike have the unbelievable gift of conceiving outside the box and releasing their imaginations to have the capability and freedom to develop and evolve their thoughts. Imagination is the key to the development and progression of our world.

  4. Imagination is magical: If you have ever watched young children play, you know the magic that comes from their creativity. Creativity turns the mundane into a magical experience. Take a moment to view the world through a child's eyes and bring back the wonder and joy that your imagination brings.

  5. Reality can suck: If we learned anything in 2020, it's that reality can suck. Watching the news and hearing about the sadness around us can trap us in an unfathomably sad world. Choosing to flex our creative muscle as a means of creation provides hope. And hope? Hope allows us the vehicle for transformation and change.
