TRAIN THE NOGGIN

INCREASE YOUR PRODUCTIVITY WITH THESE HELPFUL TIPS THAT WILL HELP YOU CONCENTRATE, SO YOU CAN CROSS OFF YOUR TO-DO’S OFF YOUR LIST WITH EASE.

Some days it feels like you can knock everything off of your to-do list in a breeze, and the next, you're struggling to get anything done. We get it; we've been there. Attention span and concentration can vary for several reasons. Some people have more difficulty tuning out distractions than others. Plus, age and lack of sleep can have a significant impact on your ability to concentrate.

As we get older, we tend to forget things more easily, and decreased concentration is a fun little side effect that can accompany memory loss. Add in a few head or brain injuries, such as a concussion or other mental health conditions, and you might have severe difficulty concentrating.

If you're attempting to concentrate and are having difficulty doing so, we have a few tips that will help you improve your concentration. Leave the mean comments to yourself behind and say hello to science-backed tips that will have you feeling like you took some natural Adderall!

  1. Train your Brain - Find time to do games, brainteasers, or puzzles, such as sudokus, crosswords, and memory games. Just fifteen minutes a day, five days a week can have a significant impact on concentration.

  2. Prioritize those ZZZ's - Lack of sleep is an easy way to disrupt your concentration as well as disrupt other cognitive functions such as memory and attention. Need help getting sleep? Try High Desert Pure's Honey Almond Hibernate. This tincture is explicitly formulated with a blend of CBD, THC, and CBN to help you get to sleep and stay asleep.

  3.  Get your heart pumping - Run, jog, bike, swim, pump irons or do whatever you enjoy doing to exercise. Daily physical activity improves concentration and attention quickly!

  4. Admire mother nature - Get outside every day, even if it is only for a few minutes. Any natural environment comes with a plethora of benefits!

  5. Meditate - Strong evidence suggests that mindfulness training that emphasizes focus can increase attention and focus. Plus, mindfulness also improves memory and various other cognitive abilities.

LEVEL UP YOUR FOCUS

BE YOUR OWN HERO: TIPS AND TRICKS ON HOW TO FIX YOUR FOCUS THAT YOU ARE UNCONSCIOUSLY WRECKING!

Now that many of us are working from home, we've discovered that focusing is more complicated than just telling yourself to focus. Whether it's your barking dog, crying kids, or loud roommate, we can all agree that the ability to focus is something we all could use a few tips on how to improve. As it turns out, simply telling yourself to say focused on a task is a lot easier said than done.

Have you ever thought that perhaps you're unconsciously sabotaging your concentration? Here are a few things that might be wrecking your ability to focus that you might not even realize!

  1. Lack of Organization: Does your house or office look like a hurricane made its way through it? Sure, exploding cupboards and heaps of paper all around the house might seem innocuous, but research indicates that disorganization and clutter have a collective impact on our brains. Believe it or not, our brains are pretty "type A" and relish order. Continuous visual reminders of disorganization put a strain on our cognitive resources and, therefore, decrease our ability to focus. The fix? Well, that's obvious! Take time to find a place for all of your stuff and keep it in an organized fashion. You might not realize how much your brain might appreciate that!

  2. iPhone Buzzing: The presence of your smartphone might be wrecking your cognitive performance more than you know. Even when not actively being used, just having your phone in your company can affect your mental performance! Hearing notifications or seeing updates on your phone can provoke task-irrelevant thoughts or mind-wandering. According to research, those who continually check their phone and are unable to disconnect have higher stress levels. Stress, in turn, damages our capacity to concentrate. The fix? Turn on the do-not-disturb for notifications on your computer and if you can, keep your phone in a different room!

  3. Too Many Meetings: All businesses and organizations rely on meetings as a vital component of organizing work and people. But most of us can recognize that several of these meetings are unproductive and inefficient. The fix? Sure, you can't tell your boss that you won't attend your meeting because it's a waste of time. However, you can not contribute to the number of meetings unless you have a clear intention and goal behind setting up a meeting. Stick to the business and have a foolproof plan to run it to get your purpose done efficiently and effectively.

  4. Overwhelmed: Not to fuel your anxiety more, but our concentration is significantly compromised when we're anxious. Likewise, lack of concentration is a symptom of anxiety. It's easy to understand why: we tend to feel physically jittery and unsettled when we're anxious. Plus, it takes a lot of time and energy to manage anxiety, which as a result, is counterproductive to being able to focus and concentrate for any decent length of time. The fix? Actually, take time to care for your mental wellbeing. Leave work at work, or since we're working at home, leave work only during work hours. Take time to do things for yourself, like taking a bath or exercising. If you still are having difficulty calming your anxiety, try 1:1 Jacobsen Sea Salt. A full-bodied high with just the right amount of sweet, savory, and smooth, this will take the edge off and put you at peace.

A NEW TRAIN OF MIND

COVID MADE US RECONSIDER WHAT’S IMPORTANT. HERE IS WHAT WE’VE LEARNED AND HOW WE’RE LEADING OUR LIFE GOING FORWARD.

COVID-19 has put the spotlight on many different areas of our life this past year. It has spotlighted the importance of a preventative lifestyle and how our future survival will depend on a new alignment between wellness and healthcare. Here are the areas of our lives we are focusing on in 2021 and how we will improve them.

Beefen up our immune system: This might go without saying, but we've begun appreciating our immune system. We want to give it the love and protection it gives us. In 2021, we will try to eat healthier, get our sleep, and of course, get physical activity!

Get real about our needs: 2020 revealed to us what is and isn't essential to us. This year, we will take time to discover what matters to us and make sure we make time for it. We will reflect on our needs from anything between our sexual needs and our financial needs. To help decompress and assist us in uncovering our thoughts, we'll use

Turn to nature: We're hitting the year mark of this pandemic, and being inside so much, we've realized the importance of the outdoors! Nature and being outside do a variety of incredible things for our health, and we plan on taking time to appreciate all mother nature has to offer.

Home is our wellness haven: We never thought we’d be spending so much time at home, and  yet, here we are. Perhaps over the years, we’ve lost touched with the importance of our home being our wellness haven because it was never as necessary as it is today. In 2021, we will take time to make our homes the wellness havens we need to live healthier and happier lives.

YOUR VISION

HOW-TO MAKE A VISION BOARD IN 10 SIMPLE STEPS

We’ve all heard about vision boards, but do they work? Yes! That is, if you do them correctly. Below you’ll find steps to making a vision board that actually works. This process is personal, so make it your own. If you make a vision board, be sure to tag us (@chalice_farms)! We’d love to see what you include, if you’d like to share.

Supplies:

  • Poster board

  • Magazines

  • Additional images, artwork, books, online printouts, etc.

  • Scissors

  • Glue stick

  • Pen and paper

  • Sharpies or other markers or paints

Steps:

  1. Determine and define your goals. Sit down and write these goals out in detail, really envision your year (or 5-10 years!) ahead.

  2. Create structure. How do you want your vision board to flow? Do you want to make sections, create a flowing collage? There’s no right or wrong answer here, do what speaks to you.

  3. Write your goals on the board. This step does not need to be perfect (will be covered up!).

  4. The fun part! Find images, words, and art that speak to your goals. You can pull these from magazines, print from online, or use anything really you have saved which inspires you (we’ve even used fabric swatches before).

  5. Start to arrange. Follow your guide (step 2) and arrange things as you see fit. You may not use all of your clippings, and that’s okay, can always save them for another board.

  6. Trim it down. Now’s the time to take a step back and see what really makes you feel something when you look at it. Add/remove as needed.

  7. Now, glue! Once you’ve arranged your board as you’d like and everything feels good, get to gluing. There’s no turning back now!

  8. Get extra creative. Use this step to add your own words, paint, or put your very personal touch on all you’ve put together so far. This step should not be overlooked.

  9. Display and admire. You did it! You can now clearly visualize your goals. Feels good, right?

  10. Review daily. Envision yourself achieving these goals and how you feel as you achieve each one (because you will!).

Keep this board up as a reminder until you’ve accomplished all your desired goals, have a little celebration (you deserve it!), then move forward, and make another vision board! Vision boards are a great habit to get into, and also exercise our creativity.
