So, we have pulled together some of our favorite insider tips, suggested products and tasty treats to keep you moving all week long. The Energizer Bunny doesn’t have to be some fictional fantasy… enter the world of energy now!
SLEEP: THE ULTIMATE ENERGY SOLUTION
FORGET COUNTING SHEEP AND CATCH THOSE ZZZ’S!
Want more energy to tackle all of your new year's resolutions? Or just more energy, in general, to get through the day? Here's the not so well known secret of getting energy: sleep more. Mind-blowing, we know! Honestly, sleep is essential and is your secret weapon for getting the energy you need to get your to-do list done.
According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), about 1 in 3 American adults do not get healthy amounts of sleep. Oh, and fun fact, stress makes getting sleep even harder. The NIH states that adults need around 7-8 hours of sleep every night to stay in good mental and physical health.
Ready to get those 7-8 hours of blissful zzz's? Here are a few tips:
Hit the pillow at the same time every night and wake up at the same time every morning. Yup, that means weekends!
Avoid naps after 3 p.m., and if you can, don't nap longer than twenty minutes.
Peace out caffeine and alcohol late in the day!
Nicotine is a no-no!
Exercise regularly, but try not to within two to three hours before bedtime.
Don't eat a heavy meal late in the day. Snack if you must!
Get comfortable! Make your bedroom dark, quiet, and at an ideal temperature.
Routines are your friend! Follow the same schedule to help you relax before bed and avoid TV no matter how good "The Bachelor" episode is!
Find yourself awake in bed? Try not to lay there awake. If you can't sleep after twenty minutes, do something calming like listening to soft music or reading.
Pop a Chalice Farms Tropical Fruit Chew for the ultimate sleep — no need counting sheep.
BYE 3 P.M. SLUMP, YOU CAN SEE YOURSELF OUT
COMBAT THE AFTERNOON DRAG WITH THESE HELPFUL TIPS
The 3 pm slump: you're not the only one who feels it. In fact, it's one part of the workday that universally slows everyone down. Post lunch, our attention span fades faster than a bath bomb in a bathtub. Apparently, there is a bit of a scientific explanation as to why this occurs. Our internal circadian biological clocks regulate our energy levels throughout the day. And according to people far smarter than us at The National Sleep Foundation, our circadian rhythm takes a plunge between the hours of 2 and 5 p.m., which makes a lot of sense.
If you find yourself victim to the 3 p.m. slump, here are a few ways to fight it!
Keep fatigue at bay and eat a healthy lunch. Foods that are high in carbs but low in protein cause a spike in blood sugar, which, as a result, creates a significant decrease in energy!
Walk! Short periods of physical activity are effective at boosting energy levels. If you sense a wave of drowsiness coming on, get your body moving! Even a short stroll will do the trick.
Listen to music. Research indicates music increases your concentration levels. Pump yourself up with the same music you use to rev yourself up before a workout!
Try a Chalice Farms Tangerine Fruit Chew! With added Maca root, a fruit chew will naturally boost your energy!

NO-BAKE ENERGY BITES
A HEALTHY SNACK TO WHIP UP
Makes: 25 energy bites
Energy bites are a delicious treat that take very little time to make (follow the simple steps below!). They add nutrition to your day, with complex carbs and healthy fats, while offering a bit of indulgence. Pop one midday to keep your energy up and sweet tooth satisfied.
1 cup old-fashioned oats
2/3 cup toasted shredded coconut (sweetened or unsweetened)
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter (or almond butter)
1/2 cup ground flaxseed
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips (or vegan chocolate chips)
1 Chalice Farms Milk Chocolate Blast (crushed, and evenly mixed into chocolate chips) or: 25 doses of cannabis oil (one for each ball - be sure to read dosing information and know how strong your oil is!)
1/3 cup honey
1 tablespoon chia seeds (optional)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions: 1. Stir everything together. Stir all ingredients together in a large mixing bowl until thoroughly combined. 2. Chill. Cover the mixing bowl and chill in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours, or until the mixture is chilled. (This will help the mixture stick together more easily.) Roll into balls. 3. Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls. 4. Serve. Then enjoy immediately! Or refrigerate in a sealed container for up to 1 week, or freeze for up to 3 months. Note: It can take up to an hour for cannabis edibles to kick in, so remember to enjoy responsibly.

INSIDE THE MIND OF AN ATHLETE
TURN THAT ‘CAN’T’ INTO ‘CAN’ WITH SOME HELP FROM OUR RESIDENT ATHLETES
Athletes: there's just something different about them. I mean, I love competition as much as the next person, but I'm more of a "making sure my yard wins the Christmas light competition" kind of gal versus the whole, putting my mind and body through agony just for a few minutes of glory. Seriously though, can you imagine waking up at 4:30 AM to jump into an icy cold pool for 3 hours just to come back 8 hours later and do it again? (The PTSD is REAL) Or having permanent calluses on your hands from batting practice over and over and over again? I mean, if we are going to be diving into the week of energy, nothing better than sitting down with those who have their energy in stores. And lucky for us at Chalice Farms, our team includes two prior collegiate Division I swimmers (now "swammers") and an ultra-athlete (like, ultra-ultra- bike Oregon and run 100-mile races-ultra), so they took the time to break down the top 5 things you can do to bring that competitive energy into your life:
Early-bird or night owl: is one better than the other?
Early morning people feel active and alive in the morning, shortly after they get up. While you might think that makes them superstars, they're still human and start feeling that early morning rise later in the evening. Night owls often don't feel fully awake until a few hours after they wake up. They are tired throughout the morning and somehow get switched on in the evenings.
If you're the former and an early riser, there is evidence that infers that your peak performance time is midday. If you hit snooze a few times, it might take you longer to reach maximum and optimum performance. Knowing when our body can achieve peak performance is necessary for planning your routine. If you're looking for ways to incorporate more exercise in your life, look at your current habits, decide if you're an early bird or a night owl, and plan accordingly.
Are there certain rituals or habits you've created that help?
As an early bird, I like to set my clothes out and have my bags and whatever else I need to go in the morning. Taking out anything that requires me to think allows me to focus on my own goal of working out.
What about those days when you just "can't even"-- how do you combat it?
Goals that go beyond weight loss are crucial for exercise; set goals that have nothing to do with weight and everything to do with fitness achievements or benchmarks. Then, make timelines and realistic expectations as to when you expect to reach your goals. Your goals can be anything from running a mile faster to building up to lifting more, or even being able to do five push-ups. Whatever your goal is, once you see that your hard work has paid off, you'll be eager to achieve more. Sure, there will inevitably be days when you wake up and won't want to work out, but reminding yourself of your goals helps make that just a cinch easier.
Let's talk about recovery: in sport and life, how important is it for energy levels?
Giving your body proper time to rest and recover is the only way you'll be able to continue working out. If you keep going and going and going, you'll eventually run out of steam. Start listening to your body's needs and responding accordingly. If you need a day off, take it. If you start feeling guilty, take time to meditate, stretch or do restorative yoga. Doing so will allow you to put energy and care into your body, without depleting it. There is a reason LeBron James invests over a million dollars a year into his recovery and taking care of his body!
