We recently heard a little story from one of our team members at Chalice Farms, Madeline Talt, and want to share it here, as we know it will make you smile.
Over the Christmas holiday, my dad dressed up as Santa and headed over to our family friend's home to surprise their eight young grandchildren. When my Santa clad dad swung upon their front door, he was greeted with pure delight; eight adorable children swarmed around him, unable to contain their excitement, sheer happiness, and giant smiles. Overcome with the moment, one of the boys screamed, "THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!" Perhaps in that moment, it was the best day of his life.
As an adult, a man dressed up as Santa does not bring the same reaction. After all, it is just a regular man dressed up in an Amazon purchased Santa costume his wife bought him. But wouldn't it be fun to see "Santa" through the eyes of a child? To be the child who was so excited, he couldn't help but scream out how happy he was?
In general, being an adult is far less magical. As you get older, stress, work, bills, memories all begin to add up. If you have children, your nightly routine might incorporate ensuring that your children have bathtime. And man, can bath time be a blast! With bubbles and toys galore, kids might not even really realize that they're in the bath to get clean! Have you ever seen a baby discover they can splash the water for the first time? Or a kid when they find out their bath bomb had a small ten-cent toy in the center?
The point is, taking time to make self-care fun and enjoyable greatly enhances our day. Instead of reviewing your to-do list while you shower, take time actually to relax. WORKING OUT SHOULD BE FUN
ANYONE WHO TELLS YOU THEY LOVE BURPEES IS EITHER INSANE OR LYING; I REFUSE TO LIVE IN A WORLD WHERE THERE IS AN IN-BETWEEN.
Before COVID-19 hit, we started to feel our workout become a little too mundane and working out began to feel like a chore. But post-adjusting to COVID-19, we’ve found ourselves looking forward to our workouts, as we’ve been able to incorporate a bit more fun into it! Admittedly, it helps that being able to sneak over to friend’s or parent’s to use their Peloton but what truly has transformed our workout ruts was finding ways to include friends and other forms of exercise. Scheduling rides or online workouts with good pals has become a fun pastime instead of our old, running on a treadmill and counting down the seconds until freedom. Whether it's a dance cardio workout or walking with friends (of course, wearing masks and distanced), changing the way we view exercise has increased our happiness. So our suggestion? Find activities that bring you joy, and that might work up a sweat. Play soccer with friends, hop on your bike, or dance around your apartment to crazy loud music; your workouts don't need to be formal, but they still count as exercise!

LET’S ROLL ONE UP...SUSHI, OF COURSE!
CHOCOLATE BLAST WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THIS SUSHI
You didn’t think we were going to start off 2021 on a bland note, did you? *Queues Dessert Sushi*. I know, I know, you must be thinking, “have they lost their dang minds?”,but trust us on this one. Desert Sushi is more than just combining our love for sushi with homemade Rice Krispies (don’t fight us on this one, homemade>pre-packaged). Just try out this recipe and it will have you thinking you may in fact, be the next champion of The Great British Baking Show.
- 1/4 c. butter
- 10 oz. mini marshmallows
- 5 c. Rice Krispies cereal
- 2 c. marshmallow Fluff
- 1 c. crushed graham crackers
- 1 c. semisweet chocolate chips, melted, plus more for serving
- 1 Milk Chocolate Blast
Line a baking sheet with wax paper and grease with cooking spray.
In a pot over low heat, melt butter. Add marshmallows and stir until melty. Turn off heat and immediately stir in cereal. Stir until completely coated.
Press mixture onto prepared pan and pat into a thin even rectangle.
Spread fluff in a single layer and sprinkle with graham crackers, pressing in to make sure they stick.
Mix 1 cup chocolate chips with 1/4 Milk Chocolate Blast and melt over low-medium heat. (1 Milk Chocolate Blast has 50mg THC, we suggest start small and add more, based on your cannabis needs)
Pour melted chocolate over graham crackers and use a spatula to smooth into an even layer.
Slice sushi in half lengthwise, then roll up halves, starting from the long side.
Refrigerate until firm, 1 hour.
Slice into sushi rolls and serve with melted chocolate.
