WEEK THREE | CONNECTION

2021 continues to be the year to switch things up, so that means this Valentine's Day will be getting a little switcheroo action too. While Valentine's Day will always be associated with the colors red and pink, we're making a tweak  — this is the year Valentine's Day goes green! Who knows, it’s quite possible when your partner was telling you all they wanted was "flowers," they didn’t mean a bouquet from the grocery store for the fifth year in a row.

SHALL I COMPARE THEE TO A SUMMER’S DAY?

KNOCK THE SOCKS OFF YOUR VALENTINE BY WRITING A POEM THAT DEPICTS YOUR LOVE! HERE ARE FEW TRICKS TO GO FROM HARDLY RHYMING TO 2021 SHAKESPEARE.

Valentine's Day is one of the oldest holidays in the world and dates back to 496 AD, when the Pope set aside February 14th for St. Valentine. Some of us might roll our eyes and think Valentine's Day is a “Hallmark holiday” filled with cliches. Today, we really need to feel the love so let’s stop rolling our eyes and let the sentiment of affection be endearing. Bring back the magic of Valentine's Day by writing your love a poem. Your creative and unique thoughts and love will stand out from any other card your Valentine has ever received. Here are a few pointers to get you started…

  1. Find something that inspires you - when you are writing your poem, center it around something you want to work into the poem. It doesn't have to be the first line or the last, but merely the starting point that your brain can work off. Need help getting into the zone? Try a Grön raspberry-lemonade “Stimulate” sugar-coated pearl. They are tart, sweet, raspberry-speckled gummies that will provide you with 5mg of THC that will have you reflecting and thinking deeper!

  2. Write whatever comes to mind - now that you know your ‘starting point,’ write down everything and anything that comes to mind when you think of this starting point. It could be fragments, drawings, bullet points - there are no rules!

  3. Transform your mess - with all of your thoughts and feelings written down, it’s time to start thinking about how you’re going to take it from mess to beautiful love poem.  Decide what your poem's form and style will be, and start moving your words around.

  4. Read for inspiration - If you need a hand deciding what your poem's form should be, go to the pros. There is a reason they are pros, after all!

  5. Write for yourself and for your love - don't put extra pressure on yourself by thinking of other audience members reading your poem. There's no need for that added stress! Write as if only you and your love will read it.

  6. Vocalize it - read your poem out loud so that you can catch any mistakes or errors.

  7. Walk away - when you think your poem is at a good place, walk away from it and don't come back until you can take time to revise!

  8. Revise your poem - after a little break and fresh eyes, this part will be easy.

GRÖN FOUNDER, CHRISTINE SMITH, ON HOW CANNABIS STOLE HER HEART.

HERE'S A BEHIND THE SCENES LOOK HOW LOVE ALLOWS GRÖN TO THRIVE

Meet Grön. They're one of Oregon's largest producers of recreational cannabis-infused edibles. Their team is a collection of chocolatiers, confectioners, and support staff, who come together from all over the world to create something beautifully delicious for us. Aren't we lucky?

But let's back up a second: what led Grön founder Christine Smith to a career in cannabis? And what makes Grön the incredible company that it is? Well, it might sound cheesy, but in large part, love. After meeting, marrying, and having children with her husband Jasper, a marijuana grower, Christine parted ways with her architectural practice, a career she had been committed to for sixteen years, and fully immersed herself into the artisan chocolate profession. While pregnant with her second child at forty years old, Christine began to wonder: "What am I going to do with my life?" And after self-reflection, she walked away and cashed in stock to buy temporary chocolate machines. Her goal: to make a high-quality microdose edible.

Many people doubted Christine's idea and thought she was crazy to make such a drastic career change. But Christine was adamant there was a place in the market for high-quality, low-dose cannabis products that didn't look or taste like marijuana, and the significant people in her life, namely her husband Jasper, supported her. And thanks to Jasper, Christine had access to a lab and researched precise dosing. In 2015, Grön was officially launched. By 2016, Grön was the largest edible company in Oregon.

How did Grön jump from launched in 2015 to the largest edible company in 2016? Here's where that love stuff comes back into the story: because of the love they put into each and every one of their products. Today, they are flourishing at creating honest fine chocolate with rich, nuanced flavors because of love; love for the earth and its provisions, love for the people, and love for the quality ingredients they source. Ultimately, Grön products are all organic, single-origin, Fair Trade Certified, and, whenever possible, locally-sourced. Moreover, Grön is committed to fairness, sustainability, minimal environmental impact, and enhancing communities.

In short, Grön is a depiction of how love can genuinely evolve into so much greater than you can imagine. The love between husband and wife was the catalyst that started the company, and the love for cannabis and products helped Grön become what it is today. So when in doubt, lead with love.
